There is a term to explain that: Media training. You might have heard of it on tik tok, but what is it truly about? And is it really a bad thing?
We all know that celebrities are constantly followed by paparazzi and interviewer just to get a photo or a quote to feed the fans with.
Media training helps with this unfortunate situations, but how?
Let's dig into it for this new gem!
Hey clovers!
We all saw this term wandering on every socials and it is a very real thing!
For those who don't know, media training is a type of coaching people that work with a large audience go through to prepare themselves to talk in public or answer interviewer's questions.
Seems like a good thing right? Some people on Tik Tok are saying otherwise. while they show clips of their favourite celebrity being funny and chaotic they say they are glad their favourite icon isn't media trained.
Let me explain: Media traning mostly doesn't affect someone's personality but it definitely makes them more concious of what they say, therefore, they think twice before making a joke or using certain words infront of a camera. While it limits people from saying racist and homosexual jokes which is a positive thing, it also limits harmless jokes that could however, still be misunderstood (e.g. sexual jokes).
Although being careful of what should be said or not is a good thing it also makes people extra anxious, and surely having a camera always pointing at you is not helpful.
Media training prevents stars from getting cancelled, and while it is right to cancel a celebrity for racism, homosexuality, sexism etc. , it is brutal to do so for appearence, personality and their own persona in general.
We all know that Ariana Grande is taking a break from visibility on social medias, after the on going tour because of her public scrutiny, going on for 3 years now. She handled very well the situation giving an extraordinary speech on celebritie's boundaries and how every human being deserves them.
After Chappel Roan, and later on Shane Hollander, iconically put paparazzi at their place, showing them that boundaries have to be respected even public figures' ones, the biggest issues and judges of idols is their audience. MOST of the audience, let's clarify.
And let me be clear that I'm not talking about the "being too woke" one, I'm referring to the one that are overly obsessed with an artist up to the point that they start noticing unreal things cause "they know them".
Some of the fans have always been a little too much, just think about the song Billie Jean that Michael Jackson wrote about her stalker. Unfortunately with social medias this problem has grown drastically.
People thinking Ariana Grande is anorexic for instance, saying she's changed and seems unhealthy, while it's clearly not their place to say. This has been going on for years now and people still believe it even though Ariana cleared it out multiple times. Not only that, but also giving a very negative connotation to her relationship with Cynthia Erivo, co-star in the movie Wicked, and making all sorts of meme.
When someone becomes famous people think they can and must know everything about them and while it is good to find out if that person is a zionist or not, but not giving their very much rightful privacy.
But let's circle back!
Personally, media training is not a bad nor new thing, since 1970s it has been coaching process used to prepare politicians to communicate in the best way with journalists and preserve their image. Now every person considered a public figure gets media trained and while it is unfortunately needed, now more than ever, it does limit the artist from being their true selves.
Well that's all! It was a really judgy gem this one, I know.
As always this is just my humble opinion and I'd love to hear what y'all think!!
See you soon with another gem!! ★ ★
